Is there an extension pack for Vbox 5.0.17 ?

Since using TW it has and still gets the latest Virtualbox right now it’s on 5.0.17 which seems to have no extension pack. I have the ISO just not the extension pack. for this reason I’m keeping 5.0.16.
MY question does anyone here know where to find it? Or is the extension pack deprecated?

Actually, the openSUSE VBox maintainers made an odd decision…

The base current stable VBox is 5.016 and if installed on any other OS but Linux, you would see this and use the originally released Extension Pack with the same version number.

But, there were a number of substantial problems discovered after original release date with the Linux Extension Pack, so the problems were addressed and the Extension Pack (only for Linux) was re-released but instead of using a subversion of 5.0.16 (like 5.0.16.1) decided to assign it 5.0.17.

So, what does this mean?
If you were installed on any other OS than Linux, the current stable <and> Extensions are both 5.0.16.
On Linux, if you are installed without the Extension Pack, it would be 5.0.16, but you should have Extension Pack 5.0.17 installed.

And it seems that the openSUSE maintainers decided to name the VBox install <with> Extension Pack as 5.0.17 which assumes the Extension Pack version although the base VBox is still 5.0.16.

In other words, according to your post, you should already have the Extension Pack installed.

This is to confirm I read this as 5.0.17 Installed but extension pack 5.0.16 is the pack to have because 5.0.17 is 5.0.16 with another name.
That said does this also apply to the iso? If so then do I delete the iso?

This post was a bit confusing, but it sounds like you’re saying that if we install 5.0.17 from the openSUSE Tumbleweed repos, we’re actually getting 5.0.16 WITH the latest extension pack. I don’t think that’s the case. Using YaST, I installed 5.0.17-1.3-x86_64 from vendor openSUSE. When I launch Virtualbox and go to Help>About, it tells me I’m running VirtualBox Graphical User Interface Version 5.0.17_SUSE r105877. Going to File>Preferences>Extensions shows an empty list. Further evidence that no extension pack is bundled is the lack of USB 2.0 and 3.0 support in VM settings. I installed Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.0.16-105871.vbox-extpack and it successfully added USB 2.0 and 3.0 support, so I guess it works with VBox 5.0.17.

My reason for coming here is my VMs can’t see any connected USB drives and I’m wondering if the 5.0.16 extension pack is to blame. They couldn’t see USB drives without the extension pack either, so I don’t know.

FYI, this thread fixed my USB issue. Specifically this:

*In openSUSE’s packages USB pass-through is disabled by default because of the security risks it imposes.

To enable it, copy /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/60-vboxdrv.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/, open it in a text editor and remove the comment characters (’#’) at the beginning of the last 4 lines.*

I don’t mean to derail your thread, I just wanted to note my solution in case anyone needed it.

The Extension Pack won’t be displayed in “About…”

Instead, from your VM-Virtualbox-Manager,
File > Preferences > Extensions
