is there a relation between the mouse wheel and Work Spaces

OpenSUSE 11.2(x86_64)
moving the mouse wheel makes the work space to switch to the second Work space, then the third and fourth. Some times, it causes whatever is displayed on the work space to shrink.
I do not think this behavior is normal, especially when I have all desktop effects disabled.
Any ideas what else need to be disabled
Thanks for reading my post.

The mouse wheel on the Plain desktop will switch desktops. But only if you have it enabled via effects

The mouse wheel on a webpage whilst holding Ctrl will either magnify or shrink according to scroll direction

Thank you for a prompt reply, truly
Then there is something wrong,
1- I have the desktop effects disabled
2- The Control key, I seldom use it or touch it inadvertantly
The mouse I use is a logitech cordless one, can that be the cause? the key board is normal type (I mean with a cord) and when every thing on the display shrink, I just need to click the mouse anywhere to recover the original size, sorry if I am not giving more details, but I am really short of ideas on this matter.
Do you think I need to disable the desktop effects as a root?
Once again, thank you for reading and replying to my post

Try this
Create a new use via Yast - Security and Users

To login with a new user you must have autologin disabled
Disable Auto-Login - openSUSE Forums

Logout and then in with the new user
Is it the same here
(we can delete the new user easily, this is just a good solver method)
