Is that able to connect internet under KDE with 11.4?

if it is, how? pls teach me the steps, for I’m new with Linux

You’ll need to explain yourself a little more clearly than this.

I understand that you want to connect to the internet but your title is confusing. “Is that”?

Wired or WIreless?

Post the terminal output of:
/sbin/lspci -nnk

Right, sorry for leaving confusion, I mean connection by a router

You can connect to a router with a wire or by wireless
Which is it? Or is it both?

Wire connections usually just work, no trouble.

Wireless may need some work.

I’m going to make it wireless; btw, I’m trying 11.4 with a flashdirve, does it work as well as the installation in hard drive?

Working from a flash drive is usually quite quick
But a HD install will always be better

and the key is what are the steps for network setup, after trying it from the flash drive successfully, I’m gonna put it on my HD.

suggest you move to the wireless forum <http://tinyurl.com/4lq2s9z> and
read through the three stickies at the top of that forum…they will
either guide you to a successful wireless connection or give you
instructions on the information you need to post to that forum to get
the best possible help…

thanks alot

Testing from a live CD is a good idea.
What works when running a live cd, will almost certainly work once installed. Though I have seen times when wireless is problematic, but this is usually down to user inexperience.

Rest easy. 11.4 is rock solid. I have been using since release without a problem.

This may be helpful should you need it
Getting Your Wireless to Work

In kde be sure to allow kwallet to manage passwordsor you’ll have trouble.

the info in that thread seems a little difficult for me to understand, now I’m looking at “Configure - KDE Control Module”, only “wired, VPN, DSL” tabs are actived but the wireless and mobile broadbrand, how can i make it active?

Please post the terminal output of

/sbin/lspci -nnk

Here is video to show you how
lspci_all.mpeg - YouTube

the netbook I’m trying on has no network connection, so the hardware info terminal output is too much to post here if I type (I’ve tried saving it in USB first, but I’m so noob that failed:P), thank you for ur patience, and it’s dell wireless card n

Use this code

/sbin/lspci -nnk > info.txt

It will create a file in your /home/username* called info.txt
Put that on the flash drive and paste the info here

But you need to get the machine to a wired connection to install the driver
Can you do that?
When you do, the first thing to do is get the machine fully updated, as you need to have all the updates for the driver to work.

Then follow this guide
Install Broadcom Drivers from Packman
