I’m posting this here because I have attempted several times to reach the packman team using their packman@links2linux.de email address that is listed as the maintainer of the AVIDemux package but have been unable to get any response. This is a fairly popular application in linux but for some reason the packman packages of it hasn’t been updated since Jan 2012. Since then AVIDemux has incorporated a large number of high profile changes such as vdpau support, proper mkv handling etc. It looks poorly on the distribution when old outdated packages are the only thing available from the “official but not official” repository for multimedia. It would be appreciated if the Packman team could update this to the latest version (there have been 5 releases since the 2.5.6 release and currently sits at 2.6.4) especially since it is not allowed to be built on the official opensuse build service.
See this thread:
I am aware that that package exists however is it also outdated and still not on Packman.
2.6.4 has several fixes.
- Better compatibility with AAC in mpeg TS
- Translations re-enabled
- Fixed a bug in x264 which could make encoding abort right at the beginning
- Fixed msharpen when width was not a multiple of 8
- Added camtasia codec support
- Fixed VC1 in TS indexing
- Properly clear things when loading a new video
- Report proper audio duration for mpeg PS/TS
- Report proper audio duration for mpeg PS/TS
- Ass/ssa filter re-enabled
Try

It is a mail list. You have to subscribe before being able to post there.

as far as I am aware the 2.5.xx series of avidemux is still considered the current stable release - despite the 2.6 series being several releases in.
Ultimately, the 2.6 series, once considered stable, will become 3.xx which is probably when it will be added to packman propper.
Until then, why not just add the Malcolm Lewis repo and install 2.6.3??
edit:

2.6.4 is only just out. I’m sure Malcom Lewis will update in due course.
I’ve been there several times to be greeted with the sound of crickets.
The 2.5.x series is considered deprecated and development has stopped on it. 2.6.x has been the official release for a while.

Because of the two of the bugs fixed in 2.6.4, 2.6.3 does not work for my purposes.
They did answer my questions in the past.
why don’t you try asking (politely) over in the 2.6.xx thread for an update to 2.6.4
You may even be able to get an answer as to why it hasn’t been added to packman official yet.
2.6.4 is now in Malcom Lewis’ repo and coming to packman soon
