is it worth using this old GPU?

Appologies if this is a dumb question

Running Opensuse 11.3, everything works well enough.
I found an old radeon gpu in a broken work pc.

my current set up is:

intel penditum D 2.8ghz, running 64 bit 11.3 with 2 Gb memory
the motherboard intel dg101ggc has intergrated graphics Radeon xpress 200 series

the old card i could use is a 32mb ati radeon 7000 (used to be called R100)

my question is, would i benifit from using the 7000 by freeing up my processor?

Thanks
Phil

I depends on if the R100 acceleration is still supported in ATI’s binary driver or the opensource radeon driver. I have an excelent intel board with the xpress 200 GPU (I’m saving it for a home server), last time I looked it would only deliver plain 2D graphics, non-accelerated (fbdev driver IINM).
