Is it possible to turn on power saving on demand?

Greetings, dear OpenSUSE community!

Is it possible to turn on power saving regime on demand? For example, can I turn on power saving if my laptop is connected to power supply?

I use mobile batteries and I need to limit power consumption of my laptop during working from mobile battery. However, I cannot find how to turn on power saving since OS “thinks” that I work from circuit.

OS: OpenSUSE 13.2 64 bit, KDE.
Laptop: Lenovo IdeaPad Z710.

Best regards,
Oleksii

Have a look at laptop-mode-tools

If the system does not detect that the machine is connected to the AC
power, you should report the issue in bugzilla. Might be a kernel problem.

If you can double boot to Windows and prove that the issue doesn’t
happen there, that would help, ruling out that it is not a hardware issue.

Usually inside KDE you would click “Configure Desktop” -> “Power Management” and edit profiles there accordingly.
Is there some error message or alike?
