Probably not easily, as the search that’s up there is tied into vBulletin
specifically.

Too bad. Forum search software is not returning relevant results most of the time

agree, but it is not an openSUSE problem as much as it is a vBulletin
problem…which i avoid by just using google and their site search
string which will force searching only forum posts:

site:forums.opensuse.org

put that in your google search along with the other relevant terms, like:

site:forums.opensuse.org is it possible to integrate search.opensuse
or
site:forums.opensuse.org vazhavandan search software

As DD said, it’s largely a vBulletin thing. Like we outline in the
sticky in this forum about “why we won’t implement your suggestion”,
tweaking the core of vBulletin is possible, but creates maintenance
issues for us.

I’ve got an item on my to-do list (when I have some time, which lately
has been pretty thin) to look into the gateway a bit more and see why
things like alerts aren’t working consistently. I have a feeling that
I’ll find that something changed in the database schema somewhere along
the way, and that the two issues are related. But vBulletin’s database
schema is fairly complex, and vBulletin itself is a pretty complex set of
php code, so tracking it down isn’t a 5-minute job, either.

But I’m mentioning this largely so you know that the search is kinda
indirectly on my radar, assuming that the issue is related to the gateway
(that’s not core vBulletin code, so messing with that doesn’t cause
problems with updates, but it does have the potential to create database
issues if I miss something, so I tend to be very cautious about core
changes).
