I recently installed OpenSuse 11.2
How do I enable the IPX-protocol and login to a Netware 3.12 server?

As root, do a
modprobe ipx
to load the protocol support. Install ncpfs and try to mount a volume. Actually I have no idea if the current versions of ncpfs still support IPX though
Good luck!

Appearently it is still supported.
After I tried the modprobe and installing ncpfs it didn’t work.
I also tried “ipx_interface delall” followed by “ipx_interface add -p eth0 802.2” (source), but still no luck.
Then I ran into a little problem which required me to logout of the linux-session and relogin. After that I could mount the volume without any problem.
Thanks for mentioning the very useful point to start.
- dumpplek,
glad I could at least help a little. Netware 3, that’s really long gone. I experimented with Caldera Linux back then (yeah, that’s SCO today
