iPassion 1b3b:2938 USB microscope

I am not having much success in installing an iPassion 1b3b:2938 USB microscope, which I thought was supposed to be UVC compliant. The camera is found using “lsusb -v -d 1b3b:2938” but is not successful with “luvcview -L” . Nor is it successful after patching the kernel with v4l-dvb from the Mercurial repository, following the instructions in the v4l-dvb Wiki and after patching “uvc_video.c” with an adaption of chrisp_duck’s patch (but using 1b3b:2938 instead of 1b3b:2936). Lastly, with a full reboot rather than using modprobe.
I came across Malcolm Lewis’ posts on upside down webcams and then discovered Malcolm’s repository. Unfortunately I get the result:

uvcvideo-kmp-default-0.1.0_k2.6.34.7_0.5-3.8.i586 requires kernel(default:drivers_media_video) = cad27f90fcd483f0, but this requirement cannot be provided

     ] do not install uvcvideo-kmp-default-0.1.0_k2.6.34.7_0.5-3.8.i586

Do you think this repository would be useful for my situation? If so, what might I do to use it?
Many thanks, Stuart
