On 31th March I finished downloading of
“openSUSE-11.1-KDE4-LiveCD-i686.iso” file. I downloaded it by Opera WB. Then using Nero I burned this file to CD. But there is a problem :
with boot. Please, make a support to this problem. Maybe file, which is in a site opensuse.org is damaged?
After the reboot of computer this text appears:

Why is it that people pick the less likely explanation? Chances are you have a corrupted download, not that a file on download.opensuse.org used by thousands of people is bad. You should do these steps:
-
Check the ISO file with a MD5 program, e.g. md5deep, and compare the output with the published MD5 sum at download.opensuse.org.
-
Check that your burn is correct by reading back the disk. Most disk burning programs should have a verify function.
-
Run the self-check that is on the CD.
You should not go forward if one of the steps fail but go back and fix the problem. BTW, bittorrent downloads are more reliable than http downloads. Also use a download manager instead of your web browser for downloads.
I don’t think checking the ISO is necessary, it IS corrupt. In the README’s it stated again and again that you should check the install media BEFORE you install.
In general, not just in this case, checking the ISO before burning can save you making a coaster. But I would also put my money on the CD that the OP has is useless. But he should go back and check the ISO image. I bet too that it’s bad, but there is a tiny chance of bad media or burner, so he might save another download in that situation.
I just don’t understand people trying to save a few minutes taking a shortcut by not doing the checks and then wasting hours afterwards trying to figure out how to move forwards.
Hi
I did have issues on my notebook (has a slow dvd drive) and the trick
was to select “Disable” the ‘install from images’ at the last screen
before the install.
As a side note, same machine installed SLED11 fine as this option has
been removed…

I check my md5 and SHA1 then use Unetbootin to burn iso to usb drive - instantly get message…
invalid or corrupt kernel image

is it something to do with unetbootin?
By the way i’m using the DVD image of openSUSE 11.3 RC1 but I also tried 11.2 DVD and that didn’t work either. I’ll try the KDE live usb and see if that works.
You will do better with the CD’s the DVDs are not meant for this.
Hi All;
I am facing the same problem with both CD and DVD images. But I am using these images in another machines. Can anyone tell me the solution?
