Invalid Nvidia Key

Good evening

Yesterday I installed the latest updates and on reboot my graphical environement was gone. I saw that there are lots of people who have issues right now but I think my problem is different from theirs:

  • hwinfo --gfxcard shows that none of nvidia, nvidia-drm or nouveau are loaded.
  • modprobe nvidia gives this error: modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'nvidia': Key was rejected by service
  • journalctl --no-pager --full | grep nvidia : openSUSE Paste (error at lines 100 to 107 for the first time)

Already tried:

  • Rolling back to an earlier snapshot, the issue was still there
  • Resetting the keys and importing the nvidia key again
  • Doing another zypper dup

Maybe it has something to do with the “New signing key for NVIDIA repositories - openSUSE News”? When I did the upgrade that broke my system the new keys weren’t mentioned but on the second upgrade later that day I was asked to trust the new key.

Have a great Day
Myryk

Just to double check I booted into a snapshot from febuary and modprobe nvidia still throws the same error.

I received a new GPG key from the nvidia repo update yesterday. Wonder if the issues are related to this gpg key update from nvidia.

Yep i wondered the same thing. But still no idea how to fix it since reimporting the nvidia key didn’t help

A repository gpg key and a module signing certificate/key are two completely different storys and not related at all.

Regarding reimporting of the Nvidia certificate/keys…the certificate path changed lately. See

Oh yeah I just checked I did indeed still import from the old path, didn’t notice it changing. Ty
