internt throughput 11.2

Hi;
I am having some problems with internet connections since upgrade to 11.2
When just started connection appears fine then later seems very slow and has timeout and lost link messages. This is from firefox or konqueror.
I dual boot my machine and connection is fine from winXP.
I ran 10.3 then 11 and 11.1 used rt61 wireless card and got the drivers from serial monkey followed the instructions for compile and connected ok.
Version 11.2 has the driver in there and seems to install correctly and run but I think is giving me odd problems.
Anyone guide me toward solution? all help appreciated thanks.

You should investigate the problem a little bit further. Did you disable IPv6 ???

When you do on a command line:

dig www.google.com

do you get an instant answer? What is it? (I am especially interested in the last 4 lines of the result)

Hi;
Thanks for the reply.
I haven’t disabled ipv6, never had to before, how do I do it?
response to command line:

dave@MeanMachine:~> dig Google

all config for connection done by ISP dhcp.
Anything obvious?
Should add as well I did the install as an upgrade from 11.1, if that matters

Thanks

Hi;
I still have problems here.
I saw the post re DNS settings causing slow performance and followed the post to set the ISP settings for my card. Does not seem to have improved matters. Should I set these DNS entries in the wireless router as well?
I think it is strange that performance after just starting system seems ok, but then seems slow after half hour or so on. Also see these results from ping.

yahoo.com ping statistics —
85 packets transmitted, 33 received, 61% packet loss, time 84413ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 183.735/355.641/1989.808/452.708 ms, pipe 2

Anyone any ideas for tracking problem further??
All help appreciated.
Thanks

Regarding your message #3: looks good. That means that at least DNS resolving works ok.

You disable IPv6 in yast2 and on a boot parameter for 11.2. Search the forums for this, it’s a FAQ.

Is this all on a wireless connection? That points into the direction of a driver problem.

Hi;
For the ipv6 is this the tick box within the network driver config? I have tried that both ways. Not changed anything within the boot params but will check posts. I dont really think this is the area as this was the same under 11.1 and ran fine.
I think the problem is the driver.
I can try and resolve this with some help, or can anyone recommend the best wireless card for seamless install and driver support.
Thanks for all replies.
