Internet not working in browser, but connection is working

Hello all, i’m new in the linux field, but i decided to give it a try and install it. I have installed fedora 10 first, but i had the same problem, and i wasn’t very happy with that version. So today i downloaded openSUSE 11.1 and after installing i noticed i have the same problem. The wire connection is active, the ping from the console is working, i have pinged the router i’m connected to and google. it’s working. from the browser i am able to connect to the router interface, but i’m not able to access any webpage. i have runed a ifconfig, this is what i get :

mss-ms-dos:~ # ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:14:D1:14:07:21

If you have any tips related to my problem pls share it with me : ) . Thx.

My router ip is 192.168.10.1 … so i don’t know what Bcast:192.168.10.255 means …

Try doing this: Disable IPv6 - openSUSE Forums

Though I would expect you should be able to access the web anyway. But doing the above is probaly a good idea anyway. So do it and report back.

That worked like a charm  . Thanks for the help  .

Hi Everyone,

probably mmy first forum and first question. Problem is quite tricky.

My internet is working. Perfect. It is wireless. pinging router answer with 0 % loss… Then pinging google and Samba – Opening Windows to a Wider World returns with 0 % packet loss. I m connected to skype where i had long conversation with the friends.

firefox loads few pages like google, google shopping…out of 100 addresses i tried only 3 loaded all the rest prompted with page load error…

I m sending this message from my office PC using the same wireless internet through remote desktop.

I mean what should i do now. I tried this ipv6 true… disabled it …
Interesting thing is that firefox works like hell when i used the cable at my office.but when i would connect though wireless everythign works but not all the pages loaded …

any clue… :o((
