I just installed Open Suse 11.2 and all seems to be going well, I am using Network Manager and connected to the internet OK but it disconnects every so often. Is there a timer somewhere? I am using a wired connection , ethernet card to dsl modem, no router.
I have same problem…
Wireless keeps disconnecting and I am then prompted to re-confirm ‘Secrets’ (ie password) for wireless connection.
Problem relates to FOUR different PC’s I have:-
2 x Desktops were upgraded to 11.2 from 11.1 - no problem with 11.1 or with original 11.2 upgrade, but the problem seems to be related to recent update (possibly to latest Kernel?)
2 x Laptops are new 11.2 installations. One is a brand new PC and has never worked with 11.2. Second is older laptop which worked fine as 11.1 but not with a fresh 11.2 installation.
All using WPA.
I’ve seen that happening too. Care to post dmesg |tail when that happens?
Is this happening anyway or is this by any chance happening with Opera ?
I don’t understand the question from JopSway.
Using Firefox for browser.
What JopSway meant:
When your internet disconnects, open a terminal and type:
dmesg |tail
Then post the output of that command.
Done that but I guess I don’t know how to get it from Xterm to here.
Here is the result of dmesg | tail
murry@linux-tcq9:~> dmesg | tail

I went to Yast and checked the network settings and went from Network Manager to ifup and now it doesn’t disconnect.
This is what I was looking for, but my question now, is there an applet or something that will install in the taskbar to let me control the connection, say on or off?
OK here’s the dmesg |tail from the Laptop that worked fine with 11.1, but now disconnects every minute or so with fresh copy of 11.2. This particular Laptop uses iwlagn driver and has ‘Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN [Kedron] Network Connection (rev 61)’.
I should also mention that problem occurs on two completely different, unrelated wi-fi networks that I have tested…
linux-8b68:/home/homelaptop # dmesg |tail

I seem to have been pushed out of my original post.
Good luck with your problem.
I used to see this happen on wireless connection without any really hint what was happening in de networkmanager log as well.
Now I changed the backend storage for secrets from kwallet to plain text files and this has worked flawlessly so far.
Just my 2ct
Sorry, it wasn’t intentional. I had assumed your problem was the same as mine.
The entry ‘AP denied association (code=12)’ I quote above seems to be an issue that is being widely discussed and one possible solution is to install ‘wicd’.

I have loaded wicd on one of my problematic laptops and I have had uninterrupted wi-fi all day.
