Internet by WiFi while using ethernet cable

hi everyone!

I am new to Linux and going crazy … if only there was one easy networking tool that was doing everything for me!

My WiFi can connect to internet without any problem, until I plug my ethernet cable …
then I lose internet.

So the question is : how do I configure my ip/dns and stuff to still have internet when I’m plugged by cable at the same time!?

Thanks in advance^^

ps: it was working on windows

A word of advice, you should only say “it works in Windows” to prove that
hardware works.

If you are using NetworkManager, it is programmed to use the wired network when
it is available, and wireless when wired is not possible. Your system is
behaving as expected except that the configuration of your wired connection
seems to be wrong.

We need more information. What are you trying to do? What is your wired device?
“/sbin/lspci -nnk” will tell that. If you look at the output of the “dmesg”
command, does it say anything about your wired interface? Please note: I DID NOT
tell you to post the entire dmesg output.

thanks for the quick reply,

here is the output of lspci -nnk

Both 8139too and ipw2200 should work “out-of-the-box”, at least with NM. The
dmesg output shows no problems.

Did I understand correctly that wired networking does not work? If that is the
case, please connect the wire and post the output of /sbin/ifconfig.
