Hi guys,
I am a newbie moving across from Windows.
I’ve installed openSUSE 10.3 x86_64 and have managed to get it working nicely. However, about half the time it hangs at this stage of the boot;
ata4.00: ATAPI: TOSHIBA DVDW/HD TS-L802A, HP21, max MWDMA2
ata4.00: configured for MWDMA2
At this point the system hangs and I do a reset.
On the occasions when it does get past this stage the next line is;
scsi 3:0:0:0: CD-ROM TOSHIBA DVDW/HD TS-L802A HP21 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
If it ever gets to this point the boot proceeds smoothly.
Clearly this is something to do with my DVD drive but it’s odd that the problem is intermittent.
My system is a HP HDX9000 laptop.
I’d really appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks
