Intel vpu firmware boot error

Hello,
i’m running Opensuse LEAP 15.6 on a Meteor Lake processor i7 ultra 155H

my kernel is :
uname -r
6.11.1-lp155.3.g7f59427-default

from this repo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable:/Backport/standard/

at boot i see intel_vpu errors :
dmesg | grep vpu
[ 1.591824] intel_vpu 0000:00:0b.0: enabling device (0000 → 0002)
[ 1.592994] intel_vpu 0000:00:0b.0: [drm] ERROR ivpu_fw_request(): Failed to request firmware: -2
[ 1.593272] intel_vpu 0000:00:0b.0: [drm] ivpu_hw_power_down(): NPU not idle during power down
[ 1.593451] intel_vpu 0000:00:0b.0: probe with driver intel_vpu failed with error -2

Any idea ?
Regards

@djm38fr Hi and welcome to the Forum :smile:
The kernel-firmware-intel package is installed?

I would assume you also need https://github.com/intel/linux-npu-driver?

Hi malcolmlewis

yes the kernel-firmware-intel package from the same repo is installed
I will try the NPU driver

Thank You

@djm38fr I see on https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000097597/processors.html that it supports the openvino-intel-npu-plugin which is present in Tumbleweed…

This repository is maybe what is needed https://build.opensuse.org/projects/science:machinelearning/packages/openvino/repositories/15.6/binaries

Yeah , i will try tx malcolm :+1:
