Intel i915 fails to load iving Failed to probe lspcon on Optimus Thinkpad

I recently installed TW and am am encountering some issues with the iGPU during bootup. I have already gone through the steps to install the nvidia driver using the SDB walkthroughsand have enabled both prime-select and bumblebee as well. Based on what I understand nvidia with Optimus is that the video is passed through the iGPU and so I’m hoping if I can resolve my current issue with that video driver, it will help clear everything else up for me.

I’ve captured as much information as I could think of below.

My current issue that I’m trying to resolve is:

  1. External HDMI displays fail to work. Laptop detects the cable being connected, but I’m unable to get the monitor to display.
  2. Random screen flashing (refresh?) happens when using the laptop monitor. This happens about every 3-5 minutes.
  3. Unsure what the BFPT error is, but maybe that would get flushed out as well?

Current GPU information.

inxi -GSaz provides more complete info for resolving Graphics issues. cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | susepaste may also provide useful diagnostic data. hwinfo produces a lot of output of little or no use for most graphics problem diagnosis.

Thanks for the tip!

Below is the output of inxi and Xorg log.

How recent was this installation made? Do you have any kernels older than 6.0.10 remaining installed? If yes, do it/they behave the same? Have you tried installing only suse-prime and not bumblebee? I thought the two were supposed to be mutually exclusive.

I switched over to the Intel iGPU and am providing similar information below. Maybe this will help.

Additionally, I tested connecting the HDMI cable to the laptop and this time, while using the iGPU, xrandr does not show the display as being connected. I’ve included the dmesg for this below.

UPDATE

After removing the following packages and switching to primerender (switcharoo) we were able to have my external monitor showing a display. Unfortunately when using the external display only, there is a 1-2 second delay between keyboard and mouse inputs. When unifying both the laptop and external together there were no delay issues.

  1. suse-prime
  2. bumblebee
  3. bbswitch-kmp-default

In attempts to further troubleshoot the iGPU and the LSPCON int port errors the following was added to the kernel for booting. Unfortunately this did not appear to make any difference.

 i915.nuclear_pageflip=1

Additionally, the following was removed from the boot loader which didn’t have any impact on performance while using the single screen.

nosimplefb=1

The latest Xorg log is located here:

Additional troubleshooting for the external monitor performance and the dmesg errors are still ongoing.
