i installed opensuse 11 recently… my sound card is intel ich5… the thing is when i give the command speaker-test -c 6 -D surround51 the sound plays from all speakers but its different channel… that is front left and front right are working alright… but surround, center and lfe is all mixed up… it plays through rear left when its supposed to play through center channel and so on… so what to do guys… i have enabled spread front to surround center and lfe…
This is fixable, but I do not know how to do this off hand. I might be able to fix it with some research on my part, but I confess the lazy way for me to fix this would be to install the IRC program “xchat” and then log on to IRC node “freenode”, IRC channel #alsa and ask the sound guru’s on IRC#alsa how to do this. In particular user “gnubien” and user “wishie” (if you can catch them) are very good in helping for such problems. But you may need to ask for help more than once, at different times of the day, to get a reply, as they live in different continents with different time zones.
