Intel 4965agn and opensuse 11.2

Has there yet been, or is there actually a plan, to make this chipset work with opensuse? I’ve been fighting this chipset since version 11.0, and have convinced myself to give it one more chance before switching to another distro.

I love opensuse, and have been using it since prior to version 10.0, but failing to support this wireless chipset in the kernel or network manager is just ridiculous. And any suggestions to use a Windows driver is foolhardy.

I know MANY other distro’s support it fully and reliably, so what gives???

This chipset is supported by linux >= 2.6.24, which means since openSUSE 11.0, so whatever the problem on your installation, it is certainly not “missing support” (and I know this card works under openSUSE by personal experience with a friend’s laptop).

In case it helps, you could look at this thread to become more familiar with the drivers that are in place for openSUSE for intel: openSUSE Forums - View Single Post - openSUSE Graphic Card Practical Theory Guide for Users
