Intel 3495 a/b/g card, slow internet, not IPV6 related

Hi Guys,

First time posting an issue here, so bear with me if I have left out any relevant information here.

So, my problem is with my wireless card, and the fact that my connection is running slower than a at a snails pace. Based on reading other posts on this site, I thought it might be related to IPV6, so I disabled it in the network settings, along within Firefox. I am still having this issue, despite disabling IPV6 in both settings. Furthermore, I am also having intermittent connection drops, which were not present in Windows. Any help you could give me is greatly appreciated.

I’m surprised it works at all. Your routing table, based on how it reads,
says to send traffic to the router thru ‘eth0’ (which I assume is your
wired-ethernet controller). That’s an illegal configuration, based on the
routing table…you can’t use BOTH unless they’re on separate sub-nets.

So, set ‘eth0’ to ‘never’ or ‘manually’, rather than ‘start-on-boot’
and see if that fixes it.

[My guess is that this will totally BREAK it, as I expect that all the traffic
is going thru the eth0 WIRE. So, your wireless is probably not sending ANY
traffic. Look at ‘ifconfig’ and you’ll be able to see which interface is handling
the traffic.]

Ok. Now post what kernel you have (i.e. output of ‘uname -a’).

And, take a look here:
HCL/Network Adapters (Wireless - openSUSE

and read the notes about ‘ipw3945’ driver there, in right-most column.

Does any of that help?

I read the the comments on the ipw drivers, however, I am able to connect. it is just at a trickle… here is my kernel info

I did a little more digging, and it looks like the drivers provided in the default opensuse 11.0 (Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN aren’t supported in this particular kernel version. I am now trying to figure out how to compile the drivers. I’ll update either way. I have a feeling more people are having this issue as well.
