Integrating Updates

I just want to start off by saying that I did do (some) research. I noticed a similar question was asked regarding SUSE 10 almost three years ago here with no luck, but I’m hoping this has changed since then (now at 11.1).

Anyway, basically what I want to do is integrate updates to the installation (DVD) source, and then burn it back to a DVD. For example, about a day before OpenSUSE shipped with Firefox 3.0.4, version 3.0.5 was released, so how would I remove the rpm for 3.0.4 and replace it with 3.0.5? I know that the filenames are different, so how would I “redirect” the installation to the new filename?

I know in OpenSUSE I can just update Firefox right when it is installed, but I just like messing around with these things. For example, back when I used Windows I used to love integrating/slipstreaming updates into the XP CD, and I even had my own update pack.

Anyway, I would really appreciate it if someone could just point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

You should try Build Service/KIWI - openSUSE, and later you will be able to use SUSEstudio (Welcome to SUSE Studio).

Thanks. I will try that.
