installing packettracer7

Hello!

OS: tumbleweed opensuse version 15.0
problem: installed packettracer from cisco academy and various dependencies getting it to launch after some minor issues. However, when running /opt/pt/bin/PackeTtracer7 it launches but is not interactable before shutting down. The terminal goes spews out

“Warning: libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile.”

all the while up until the process closes.

Running it from “opt/pt/packettracer” like you’re supposed to still doesn’t launch it.

Anyone have any good ideas?

there is no such thing as OS: tumbleweed opensuse version 15.0, there is opensuse tumbleweed and opensuse leap 15.0 those are two different OS’s LEAP 15.0 is downstream from TW but they’re not compatible
what’s the output of

cat /etc/os-release

you can ignore that warning as it’s not important

how did you install it, how did you fix the aforementioned dependency issues did you build from source or use a prebuild rpm, what is your repo list

zypper lr -d

assuming you started /opt/pt/packettracer in a terminal what are the terminal messages any errors, without knowing how and from where you installed it there’s nothing we can do to help

Hi
Version 7.1.1 needs openSSL 1.0, Tumbleweed has openSSL 1.1 they (Cisco) need to rebuild with proper support.

A softlink doesn’t work…


./PacketTracer7: /usr/lib64/libcrypto.so.1.0.0: version `OPENSSL_1.0.0' not found (required by ./PacketTracer7)

I found a page that listed a lot of libraries which i tried installing.

however i didnt manage to find the qt modules connectivity contacts feedback gallery multimediakit organizer publishsubscribe quickparticles quicktest quickwidgets scripttools sensors serviceframework sql systeminfo and uitools.

If you run the ldd command against the binary, think you will find it’s using the provided libraries and not the system libraries…

I just extract the tarball and run, no system install…
