Installing openSUSE 11.3 from external usb Hdd

Hi Open Source Community,

1:Im having a difficult time installing openSUSE 11.3 from the dvd.iso file onto a external usb hdd… I’ve tried using the Win32diskimager provided in the tut. however even following the directions provided i cannot seem to find the .iso file even though I found the openSUSE-11.3-DVD-i586.iso folder which when viewed with explorer the file resides in said folder. I’ve even tired adding the “*.iso” in the file name field as directed to no avail.

2: I extracted the openSUSE.iso to my C:…downloads folder and noticed the openSUSE-Local.exe file and clicked to install, the installer loaded fine and asked me to reboot.

Upon rebooting i had the option to pick either my standard

  1. WindowsXP OS , or the
  2. OpenSUSE 11.3 local installer… I noticed the install identifying my hardware with no issues

After choosing the openSUSE install option i was prompted to keep cd1 in … im not using a cd/dvd to install, im trying to install from either:

  1. my current internal Ide hdd which i pre-partitioned to have 75gb {C:} for windows and 55gb(or so) NTSF {Z:} for alternate OS’s
    or
    2)an external usb HDD which is also partitioned into two 100gb NTSF drives {N:,O:}

Which ever is easier

Using the installer I choose to hit the back button when asked to put in cd1(as im not using a cd} and i was prompted to pick a lang., i did, then whether i wanted to install or update and to which drive I choose N: and was asked for the source directory… i figured if i pointed at the .iso file on N: it would find the soruce but it returns no repository …

Im stuck but not giving up any help would be much appreciated as i’d really like to learn this OS… Im a newbie and proud to learn from those that are willing to help.
