Installing Nvidia the hard way not working

Laptop, Thinkpad T410
NVidia Quadro NVS 3100M Graphics Card
Nvidia Driver Version: 270.41.06 (from nvidia website)

Installed openSUSE 11.4 x64 and KDE4 and working fine.
Upgraded to Tumbleweed as per swerdna’s (openSUSE Forums - swerdna howto upgrade openSUSE 11.4 to Tumbleweed) post.

openSUSE Tumbleweed still working fine.

Wanted to install Nvidia. Again followed swerdna’s (openSUSE Forums - Nvidia with Tumbleweed (AKA Install Nvidia the Hard Way)) post.

However, no matter what i tried,* sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-270.41.06.run* in init 3 (fresh/cold boot) still complains that nouveau is loaded and in use and refuse to proceed.

Help, advise appreciated.

Hi
Have you disable kms and using nomodeset as a grub option?

That did it , thanks.
