Installing Nvidia Drivers ?

I am new to Linux… Trying to get it working on my desktop in it’s default configuration. I downloaded OpenSuse 11.2 M8 and it installed fine. However I can not access any of the KDE effects. I figured that it is probobly the fact that Nvidia drivers need to be installed separatly.
I went to nvidia site and downloadead .run file for Gforce9 on Linux x64. Tried runing it as root “sh filename.run” and got an error. So I went to NVIDIA - openSUSE and tried a driver from there. YaST2 says “The install link or file you opened does not contain instructions for this version of openSUSE.”

So my n00bish question is: how do I install the driver for
Gforce9 card
64 Bit OpenSuse 11.2 M8
?

If you’re new to linux it’s better that you start with the stable openSUSE 11.1.

When using the binary file from the nvidia you have to have the “kernel-source” package installed.

You have to manually install them with the development versions. NVIDIA/The hard way - openSUSE
