Installing LXDE sets XFCE in "/etc/sysconfig/windowmanager"

Installing LXDE with the Leap 42.2 network ISO sets XFCE as the default window manager in “/etc/sysconfig/windowmanager” therefore boots to commandline.

Shall I submit a bug for this? (I’m new to using OpenSuse as my daily OS.)

It does have “xfce” as “DEFAULT_WM=” but switching this to “lxde” doesn’t fix it booting to command-line.

The main issue is that (when installing LXDE with the 42.2 network ISO) there is no DISPLAYMANAGER=“lightdm” entry in etc/sysconfig/windowmanager

This is an artifact because the LXDE DM was deprecated in the move from 42.1 to 42.2.
Unfortunately, these changes weren’t properly tested, and there is more that will go wrong if you install LXDE or LXQt in 42.2 directly.
If you want a stop-gap fix, I recommend you configure lightdm for your DM, this can be done post-install a number of ways including the YaST module “/etc/sysconfig editor.”

If you like LXDE (or LXQt), I highly recommend you install in 42.1 and then upgrade to 42.2, which will result in your LXDE/LXQt DE having <all> the sub-components and configurations it should have.
