Installing LEAP 15., need to turn off ACPI

i’m trying to install Leap 15.4 on an HP Pavilion. The installation gets stuck after installing the basic drivers. From having a similar problem with Ubuntu I think I know what the problem is: I need to turn off ACPI. The installation sequence doesn’t seem to offer me an opportunity to do this, and the HP BIOS has no setting for it. So how can I turn off ACPI?

Strike the E key at the boot menu, migrate to the end of the linu line, and append <spacebar> acpi=off.

What model HP, I have a few and used a lot with openSUSE and never needed that? Is this a dual gpu system?
