installing gnome

I am currently running open suse 11.4 and using kde and want to be able to use gnome also, what do I have to do to install it so I can choose which I want?

Yast -> Software -> Software management

If there is a “Patterns” tab, select that. If not, select the “View” tab and then select “Patterns”.

There will then be “Gnome base system” and “Gnome Desktop Environment”. You can just click on the name to see what is included. Or check the selection box to install. I seem to recall that will bring up a conflict resolution screen. One of the options is to uninstall kde-pure, and as far as I know, it is safe to do that (doesn’t break kde).

thank you appreciate you assistance, got it installed and working…thanks again
