Installing from DVD fails

First I am new to Linux.

I am trying to install 11.0 64 bit on a Dell Poweredge SC1430.

I have downloaded and built the DVD several times. The check sum comes back clean. The machine freezes at different points during the install. I have had the install complete, only to have the machine freeze while adding a package, just after it asked for the DVD to be inserted.

I have the same issue with 10.3.

The DVD drives checks fine. The full system test provided by dell run’s clean.

I was able to install 10.2 for the CD images and it is running fine. I want to be current on 11.0 so I do not need to install Oracle and build my databases a second time.

Has anyone see this behavior before or have any idea what may be causing it?

Is there anyway to create install CD’s from the DVD?

Thanks!

Note this near the bottom:
If the graphical boot menu doesn’t show or freezes, try press and hold Shift on the keyboard when booting the installation media. This starts the text-mode boot menu instead.
