Installing an update

I’m using eric 4.2.1 and It is asking to update to version 4.4.4. Which of these files should I choose http://sourceforge.net/projects/eric-ide/files/eric4 tar.gz or zip? Once I get the correct file how do I install it? I asked them at the IRC but they kept babbling about some RPM file which I can’t find. So I’m asking here instead.

gz or zip?? makes no difference, both are easy to unpack…

HINT: it is all the stuff that comes BEFORE the gz or zip that makes a
BIG difference…

but, why download source and compile it if you don’t yet know about gz
or zip??

babbling about a file you can’t find?
use this search engine: http://software.opensuse.org/search and then
install the .rpm by

  1. right click on file
  2. select Actions > Install with YaST
  3. give root pass when asked
  4. sit back and enjoy the magic
  5. when complete you should find a new icon in your menu, not sure
where, maybe: Menu > Development > [something]
