Installing a new HDD on OpenSUSE 12.1

I have recently bought a new Hard Disk Drive and I just set it up, formatted the whole space as a primary partition using the Ext4 FS and mounted the disk successfully. I can now browse the disk using Dolphin but I need root access to create new files and stuff. There is also a folder lost+found which I cannot enter.
Have I done something wrong during the installation process or is this normal??

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Whats the mount line look like? You need to tell it how you want it to mount.

If the drive is mounted at e.g. /path_to/mount_point and your username is e.g. abcde, run this command: su -c “chown abcde:users /path_to/mount_point”
Then see if you can browse to directory “mount_point” and make stuff as a normal user (named abcde).

lost+found is a system file. I ignore it.

I finally managed to mount it properly using this line in fstab, actually just copy/pasted the mount line of the home partition just changed the mount point and the disk id.

/dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST3750330AS_9QK2P2ZY-part1 /mnt/disk ext4 acl,user_xattr 1 2

Thanks a bunch.

What you got was absolutely normal, and what did was also correct. Now, you
can add a directory to /mnt/disk owned by your user, or change the
permissions on /mnt/disk to have access as that user.

The lost+found directory is a place that is used when there is a disk
crash, and on recovery found files are saved there. It is a bad signal when
you find things in there.
