Installing a desktop theme

Hi,

I’m new to linux and I want to install a desktop theme on KDE4. I’ve
downloaded the desktop I want (it’s in the compressed .tar.gz format).

I’m using opensuse 10.3. The problem is when I try to install this new
theme is desktop configuration, it looks for theme files and .tar.gz
format is not picked up.

Is there any way to install this themes from the command line? I do not
have root permissions on the computer.

Cheers

It doesn’t make sense to me. If I can’t install it using a command line
somehow and if my theme manager doesn’t pick this up then how is it
possible to install it?

did you try to do this: ‘Howto KDE-Look.org
(http://kde-look.org/help/index.php?type=9)
Or This ‘Howto KDE-Look.org
(http://kde-look.org/help/index.php?type=70) ??
I personnaly usually fired the second method, since plasmoids and
plasma themes are similar.

You could also try to extract the plasma theme in
~/.kde4/share/apps/desktoptheme. (-it works if the theme is already
compiled)-
