Hi
Note: While I have used SUSE & since version 6.2 and OpenSUSE 11.1 to 13.1 KDE my Linux knowledge is limited so any reply needs to be simple.
I have downloaded and installed the 32 bit KDE version of 13.2 to save bandwidth (I normally download the full installation 4.7 Gb ).
As with previous versions there was no problem during the live session or installation to the hard disk.
When booting the installed system everything is fine until after the sign in, when the icons on the centre of the screen start to appear and then freeze.
I list my lspci below, is the system unable to run 13.2 because of the any components, non of these have changed since 13.1.

If you are able to answer Please remember my lack of knowledge
Try to select recovery mode in “Advanced Options” in the boot menu. Does it work then? My guess would be that you either still have an older nvidia driver version installed (which doesn’t work with the new kernel and Xorg), or that the current nouveau doesn’t work well with this card.
Thanks for taking the time to reply so quickly.
On the live disk I tried 14 of the 28 combinations of F3 & F4
With F4 set to default only F3 set to NO KMS was able to boot and run the live session
With F4 set to Safe Settings all F3 settings were able to boot and run the live session
These results seem to confirm what you have said that there may be a problem with the video card.
With the following Settings I then installed onto sda3
F2 UK
F3 1280x1024 (my monitor resolution which worked on the live session)
F4 Safe Settings
Installation completed, I rebooted, and the grub screen appeared.
First I chose normal boot and I was able to login but as before the system stalled when trying to complete the process.
Second I chose advanced and recovery mode as expected there were errors.
Failed to start LSB: Virtual Box …modules.
Failed to start X display manager.
This also indicates that the video is the problem
From my OpenSUSE 13.1 on sdd1 I can see that the OpenSuse 13.2 is on sda3 with the normal folders I would expect.
I will continue to use my OpenSUSE 13.1 which works well, and perhaps try another KDE Distro if I need some newer application which is not in 13.1
If I update my hardware in the near future I will try 13.2 again
If I downloaded the 4.7 Gb disk when bandwidth was available would this be any better
This is normal. The LiveCD just copies its contents to the hard disk, and the LiveCD contains the VirtualBox guest additions to run better inside VirtualBox. They fail to start on real hardware of course, but that’s nothing to worry about and can be ignored.
Failed to start X display manager.
It should work in recovery mode.
Was this a fresh installation now?
Maybe the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.install is missing?
Try to add “nomodeset” to the normal boot entry. To do that, mark the entry, press ‘e’, search for the line starting with “linux” and append “nomodeset” to the end. Then press ‘F10’ to boot. Does it work then?
If I downloaded the 4.7 Gb disk when bandwidth was available would this be any better
Probably not.
The DVD does not have any additional graphics drivers.
1.To the entry " linux…VGA=0x31a " I added “nomodeset” and the system booted but the display had a black band above the task panel
2. In the entry " linux…VGA=0x31a " I replaced “VGA=0x31a” with "nomodeset the system booted and the display was what is probably normal and was as the live session
Is it possible to make this change permanent in the grub boot or do I need to change something to use 1280x1024 resolution.
This reply is sent using OpenSUSE 13.2 using the boot as 2.
My grateful thanks if this has solved the problem and do I need to mark this thread as SOLVED.
You can make this change permanent in YaST->System->Boot Loader->Kernel Parameters.
You can set the resolution there as well, “Console resolution”.

Well, I wouldn’t call it “solved” yet.
I would recommend to install the proprietary nvidia driver to make full use of your graphics card.
The open source “nouveau” driver seems to have problems with your GeForce 7300 LE, but nvidia should work.
Add the nvidia repo: YaST->Software Repositories->Add->Community Repositories
Then install the following packages with YaST->Software Management:
nvidia-gfxG02-kmp-desktop, x11-video-nvidiaG02, nvidia-computeG02
(be sure you install the G02 packages, not G03!)
You should even be able to remove the “nomodeset” option again then, although it wouldn’t be necessary.
If something goes wrong, remove the packages again, in text mode if necessary:
