Installed Open Suse 12.3 Gnome but Wifi doesn't work.... Please help

My Ethernet works (if I plug in a cable) but wifi doesn’t. My specs are:

Broadcom Network controller

Bus ID: 7
BUS: PCI
Device Identifier (spec): 70921
Device Identifier: 82771
Driver: bcma-pci-bridge
Hwcfg BUS: pci
Kernel: bcma
Model: Broadcom Network controller
and so on

Please help! I really need this to work! Thanks

Well, I can’t really make out there which wifi adapter you have exactly.
Please post the output of “lspci -nnk”.

12.3 has a bug in that you may have to reboot once after installation to get wifi working. Have you done that?

Are you using NetworkManager? Enter YaST->Network Devices->Network Settings->Global Options and switch it on. If it is already enabled, switch to “ifup”, click OK, enter again and switch back (this is to work around another bug).

Depending on your exact model, you may need to install firmware or a driver:
PackMan :: Informationen zum Paket b43-firmware
PackMan :: Informationen zum Paket broadcom-wl

And yes I did reboot multiple times and did the network thing. One problem. When I plug in an ethernet cord, I must reboot to make it work. And the computer doesn’t even indicate I have a wifi (meaning it’s not installed or detected).

Thanks!

This is a wireless networking problem. Please hold off on more replies until moved to the wireless forum.

Thank You,

OK, so it’s a Broadcom BCM43224.

AFAIK, you have to install the firmware package and it should work (after a reboot):
PackMan :: Informationen zum Paket b43-firmware

So I installed http://packman.links2linux.de/downloadsource/368408/b43-firmware-4.174.64.19-3.1.src.rpm Since it was the one related to 12.3 . I rebooted and NOTHING… Is there something in settings or…

That’s the .src rpm, you cannot install that. That’s for building a package yourself.

Install this:
http://packman.links2linux.de/download/b43-firmware/1349501/b43-firmware-4.174.64.19-3.1.noarch.rpm

That is what I tried first (No arch). I will try again though

Then try to install the two broadcom-wl and broadcom-wl-kmp-desktop (or default if you’re using kernel-default) packages I linked to earlier. They contain a different driver directly from Broadcom that might work better for you.

Or have a look here maybe:
