It is recommended to in stall all vlc packages from packman. Is that were you got whatever it was you installed. You will need also the vlc propritary driver codec package to play propritary file formats

I suggest you read the stickies on multimedia

i am new to opensuse, so i don’t know how to install vlc from packman. will you please tell me steps regarding it.

Hello arvinddx

First, this and the other post you just made really belongs in the “Application” forum, this forum is generally for installing the base OS, not individual applications.

That said,
In the other Forum Post I described how to disable a repository.
Using the same Repository applet, add… and select Community Repositories. That list contains repos that are not maintained by but contain useful packages you can install into openSUSE. Select Packman as the repo that will contain your vlc source (I thought VLC is now in the regular repos and Packman isn’t needed?).

In any case, after adding any desired installation sources (repositories), you can then refresh and search for the software you want.

You should also know that there are a number of codecs which cannot be distributed by a distro like openSUSE but which are required to play audio and video. See the stickies in the Multimedia forum for instructions and links how and what else to install.
