Hey, Farp. Welcome!

Do you mind if post a list of your hardware?

It would make finding the problem much easier.

Thanks.

To help, we need more information. What machine are you trying to load?

System specs as follows:

MB: MSI K8T Neo-V
CPU: AMD Athlon64 3000+ (socket 754)
RAM: 2GB Gskill ddr400
HD: WD250GB SATA
GPU: AGP nVidia geforce7600gs

on board la and audio

Maybe this sound silly question but did you use 64-bit edition for your installation?

Is there a BIOS option to run SATA in legacy mode; i.e., in parallel ATA (PATA) compatibility mode ?

A black screen does not give one much to go on. What happens if after getting the black screen you press <CTRL><ALT><F1> or <CTRL><ALT><F2> or <CTRL><ALT><F3> ?? Do you see any text where you can post the last number of lines?

Also, before you get the black screen do you get any messages, so we know how far you got in the boot process? I find if one has a digital camera (with a movie mode) one can take a video of the boot with the camera, and then determine what the last message was before the screen went black.
