Im trying to install OpenSUSE 12.3 - but when I put in the DVD and load it up - the screen comes up properly
BUT the menu option to actually INSTALL it isnt shown. You can only choose to boot from DVD or safe options etc.
No menu option shown called “INSTALLATION”…cant figure it out.
Its like it cant see the hard drive (HDDs are recodnised in the BIOS though !)
The odd thing is it works perfectly well with Ubuntu !
I have messed around with all BIOS options with AHCI etc etc, tried the hard drive in different ports, tried
an old SATA hard drive etc etc. Nothing. Do you need to have a hard drive plugged in which has been totally
formatted with nothing on it or something ?
Supermicro X7DWA-N MBoard
32GB Ram
Nvidia Quadro FX3700 GFX
Dual OCZ Agility3 SSDs (even tried removing both and installing on an old SATA HDD…)
Driving me nuts - any ideas ?
Thanks !
Is that a BIOS menu, rather than the boot menu from the DVD?
If it is a BIOS menu, then I guess you choose “boot from DVD” and see if a menu shows up with an install option at the next step.
Hi
Here is a generic image from the net showing how it SHOULD look. For me - the 2nd line down “INSTALLATION”
is just missing - there is no line called “INSTALLATION” at all. Its not greyed out or something. Its just not there.

What DVD are you using? Because there is one that does not have
“install” option.
