installation openSUSE 11.3

Hello everyone,

I want to install this distribution of Linux through Virtual Box.I have already installed VB and dowloaded openSUSE. Which are the next steps?

Welcome to the forums.

It’s quite easy to set up openSuse (or for that matter, almost any OS) in VirtualBox.

  1. Fire up VB, and click on the “New” button near the top-left corner.

  2. A wizard will start which will guide you through the process of making a new virtual machine. Give the VM a name, select the OS Type (in our case, it will be Suse), select the amount of RAM to be allocated to the machine, and create a new virtual disk (which can take some time).

  3. Once done, you should see the new VM showing up in the list towards the left of the VirtualBox main window. If you want to, you can change its settings (e.g. hard disks, cd rom, networking, audio, USB etc.)

  4. Start the newly-made virtual machine. It’ll ask you if you want to mount an iso image to use as an installation disk. Select yes and browse to the openSUSE iso file you downloaded.

  5. If everything goes normally, the installation should start after this.
