Hey there, I’m new to the linux community, openSUSE more specifically, and I’ve been having some troubles trying to install openSUSE to my 2 laptops. On one laptop, I have no CD or DVD drives, so I am attempting to install from a USB key. I can begin the setup alright, but as the KIWI CD Boot-System tries to detect my CD Drives which are non-existent, it sends the reboot signal and restarts the computer. After I tried this a few times, I decided to attempt the install on my other laptop, which does have a CD reader. So, I burnt a copy of openSUSE, booted from the CD, everything loaded up nicely, but when the loader gets to the part where it tries to detect my CD reader, it still detects nothing! I’ve looked for solutions to this problem, but have turned up nothing in my efforts. So I turn to you! Thanks in advance for any help!
Have a look here: SuSE install from USB drive - openSUSE
Hi
I would recommend you setup the one with a cd first and try the boot
option insmod=ide-generic if all goes well and you get the OS installed,
then look at using that system as a server to install the other system
on.

Hello again. Thank you for all of your suggestions! However, they didn’t work for me. This seems to be a problem with the KIWI Cd boot loader not being able to detect the CD drive at all. When it does that, it just sends the reboot signal. Do you know how to bypass that check if at all possible?
use the fail safe boot option
