Hi the installation of openSUSE 42.1 is confusing to me. And the partitioning setup on the openSUSE install ISO. I went to make the drive encrypted so i set the partition up with the partitioning expert tool on the ISO. i set the first partition up as ext4 then tried to encrypted it but it wouldn’t take the / . and was listing /var /home/local /home. confused. So then i just set it up as default and was able to use / after that i set up the swap which was easy. After that it went through the installer but then when i got to the xfce desktop i didn’t have a internet connection. When i tried to encrypted also it wouldn’t set the bootloader to /dev/sda it was puting it at the USB ISO of the openSUSE. which isn’t right.
I need some help on installing and encrypted the drive right way please and setting up the internet.
Installer supports full disk encryption using LVM only. AFAIR there should be checkbox in Edit Proposal dialogue to enable encryption. It could be that it is offered only with GPT labelled disks.
OK i didn’t see LVM but let me check again. How do i get the internet to work i had ethernet plugged in and it said networkmanager was disabled .but then when i clicked it nothing in the box
Another problem, please another thread, of course in the correct subforum (Network/Internet). Nobody that sees the title of this thread will get the idea that there is a network question in it.
Note it depends on how you plane to boot There are two ways the old MBR (legacy) boot and the newer EFI boot. It is important to know which you are using
I still need help with installation Please. And there is no LVM so not sure what you talking about only btrfs and xfm. I just want to make install just root and swap. I can’t do that with encrypting. And the partition expert thins how come it shows all the drives on it it trys and uses my USB for bootloader.
