Hello everyone, I used to use OpenSuse a few years back and then got away from it. Now I’m trying to get it installed on my system that’s currently running Windoze, but I’m running into some issues.
I’ve tried to install from both network and USB of 13.2, and I even tried to install Suse enterprise 12 from a DVD. I’ve had the same issue no matter what I’ve tried. Once I begin installation… it gets hung up on “starting udev…” and completely freezes there. All I can do from that point is do a hard reset of the system. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!
The only thing I had attached to the machine are my USB peripherals, a USB external HDD (which I disconnected, tried the install, but the same symptoms were replicated), and the USB stick that I was installing from. I tried this same method with another Linux distribution and that is failing as well.
General hardware overview:
Intel Maplecrest 120GB SSD boot drive
WD Black 1 TB drive
Asus Maximus V Formula MoBo
Intel i5 3570k
Sapphire Radeon HD 7970
G.Skill Trident X 16GB RAM @ 2400 MHz
Rosewill Lightning 1kW PSU
USB Keyboard, Mouse, Headset, and speakers attached.

Check on the bios configuration page if the floppy is enabled. If you
don’t actually have a floppy reader properly connected, it causes a huge
delay.
I don’t remember if 13.2 is affected by this problem.
