I can’t install 11.4. First install freeze when loading basic drivers. I set acpi=off and install start but freeze during setting.
I think also that 11.4 was not mature.
I have a Asus P7P55 MB with Intel Core i5 CPU 750 8Go RAM and Nvidia GT200 GPU.
No problem with 11.2 except sound.

Instead of trying the kernel load option acpi=off, you should use nomodeset instead since you have an nVIDIA video card. Further, I suggest that you continue with the loading of the proprietary video driver.
Thank You,
I try nomodeset and intall freeze also. Only with acpi=off I can start installation but system freeze randomly.
I can’t finish install.
I install 11.3 and I finish installation but the system was unstable.
So I reinstall 11.2. This is the only stable version for me.

Did you know you can have both options at the same time? nomodeset acpi=off together is also one more option to try. I have openSUSE 11.2 loaded on a couple of computers which works very well but it will be next to lose support later this year.
Thank You,
I tried nomodeset and acpi=off. Only acpi=off has effect.
What is “to lose support” if 11.3 and 11.4 are unusable ?
The installer must detect the hardware and load the modules needed.
I have a Core I and a Nvidia GPU is it too exotic for Linux ?

I don’t think what you have is too exotic. I just don’t think we yet know the cause of your problems. I have an Intel i7 2600K (code name Sandy Bridge) with nVIDIA 450 GPU at the moment which is working for me in openSUSE 11.4. But, I do always use 64 bit software and I always install the nVIDIA driver the hard way. After that I did have an issue with Firefox 4 and Flash which I fixed by dropping back to Firefox 3.6.16 AND I had an issue with AppArmor and Samba which can be fixed with suggestions found here on-line. Some users have claimed to have issues with a 32 bit openSUSE 11.4 install and nVIDIA video for instance. As for openSUSE 11.2, it will be the next to drop off of support on or before the end of the year when the next openSUSE version comes out. Normally only the three most recent versions will be supported and so openSUSE 11.2 is on the hot seat to go next.
Thank You,
