installatie: suse 11.3

Hey all, I have in windows 7 partition created, 15 gb
I wanted to install suse.
but now I get this message

You can not directly install to a partition made by Windows. You also need at min 2 partitions one small one for swap and a main/root. By default OpenSuse uses 3 swap, root, and home. Also you can not have more then 4 primary partitions. If you need more you must have an extended partition where you can create logical partitions

Ideally we need you to show us what partitioning you have. Windows cannot do that, itā€™s information is useless. You need to boot a live cd of a Linux Distro (if you are using a SUSE CD that will do) or get a small one like Parted Magic: Downloads

From a terminal we need

fdisk -l

Welkom hier !!

To the others, Iā€™ll give him a hint in dutch to help him on the way.

Zo te zien ziet het installatieprogramma geen ruimte op je systeem. Je geeft aan dat je een aparte partitie gemaakt hebt vanuit Windows. Wat je nodig hebt is lege ruimte, dus je zou die partitie weer weg moeten gooien vanuit Windows, zodat de schijf een stuk lege ruimte heeft. Volgens mij had je daar die 15 GB voor genomen. Dat is genoeg, maar nix teveel. Als je de partitie in Windows verwijderd hebt, en je start de installatie opnieuw, zul je zien, dat er een partitioneringsvoorstel gemaakt wordt. Je hebt er 3 nodig:
/ (de ā€œrootā€)
swap (het wisselgeheugen)
/home (waar de gebruikersmappen komen)

Ik hoop dat je zo een stapje verder komt, zet vooral door, het is de moeite meer dan waard.

heb ik al geprobeerd maar er komt helemaal niks in beeld.
daarom probeer ik hantmatig de partitie werkend te krijgen, maar dan krijg ik weer een error help!
ps ik wil graag mijn specs in mijn hanteking zetten zoals u doet, maar ik kan die optie niet vinden op het forum, zou je mij daar ook even mee willen helpen?

Het lijkt erop, dat je de partitie tabel op de harde schijf beschadigd hebt. Start je windows nog wel op?

Carl, I already sent Jesse a PMā€¦suggesting he first arranges free space from Win7, or adding a hard disk (he only freed up 15 GB). Another one for dutch forums :wink:
