Install

Does SUSE 11.4 have an option for the install to automatically use the remaining space on the drive. I have an acer laptop with a 640 gig drive. I am gonna use parted magic to adjust the drive so that win 7 will take up about 320 gigs of space. The remaining space I will use for SUSE.

I should also tell you that I maxed out my ram to 12 gigs.

Yes it should use the free space, but if you have 4 primary partitions you may need to adjust things. It seems that Windows 7 often is installed at the factory with 4 partitions. I think it is MS’s way of making installing a dual boot just a little harder. You are allowed a max of 4 Primaries. Alway double check the the proposed partition scheme before accepting it.

I only see one partition in my computer though. How would I see if there are any hidden partitions. Would Parted magic show them.

We should say that any real partitioner would. Not true of the Windows one. :frowning:

I have used in the past windows partitioners to create partitions for
linux… even reordering them. It is the Microsoft fdisk which is a problem.
