Hi to all, im trying to install ZoneMinderfollowing this lin https://wiki.zoneminder.com/index.php/Installing_using_ZoneMinder_RPMs_for_SuSE?
I use the one-click-install option for >10.3, then yast start to install ZoneMinder but an error is displayed that said “perl MODULE_COMPAT_5.26.1”. By looking in Yast for perl and I can’t find MODULE_COMPAT_5.26.1. Where is this module? did it change of name?

Hi
Perl in Tumbleweed is 5.28.1, ask the provider if they can build for Tumbleweed… or try the Leap 15.1 version?

If you check the output from zypper lr -d, what repository are you pointing at?

Its possible to install ZoneMinder in Tumbleweed? I have a few IP cameras and looking on internet for software for linux Zoneminder its on the list, so I give a chance.
Hi
No, since the perl versions are not compatible, or check with the zoneminder folks as you may be able to override the perl version check. However in saying that, a more stable release like Leap 15.1 will last longer as the versions shouldn’t change over the lifetime (eg 15.2, 15.3 etc) as well as zoneminder support.
Maybe I’ll find time to try to install Zoneminder again.
Haven’t done it for a few years now,
Instead of using RPMs I went to their github project and built from source, after a few adventures I was successful.
Once built, IIRC it can update itself without RPMs, so keeping updated wasn’t a problem (can be for anything built from source)

You can find packages for Perl 5.26 in private repos
https://software.opensuse.org/package/perl
If it’s the package throwing the error the only one, I suppose you can also try symlinking on the chance the new package can deliver the old package functionality.

Hi
Just use their OBS project…?
Lot of work there to get a proper build from source…
Raise an issue on GitHub seems easier to me, or their forums…

Besides recommending building on LEAP instead of TW (whenever you build a server, the stability of LEAP is highly recommended),
If zoneminder does not install on 15.1 for some reason, it’s likely that you should be able to install on 15.0 and then upgrade immediately.
Of course, all needs testing… But pointing out another possible approach.

Hi
In fact the Leap 15.1 rpm should work fine with Leap 15.0… as indicated it’s all about stability for the leap releases…
One good thing is you can see on OBS all the requires (Requires column) involved, if there is a gap in those requires (eg no package listed) then in will be an issue…
