I know there is no problem to install SUSE Linux after having installed Windows XP on the same hard disk, BUT there is a problem of CAN NOT boot SUSE Linux if I install Windows XP after having installed SUSE Linux.
There is someone tell me that I could rewrite the SUSE Linux boot information to the boot.ini file which is in the Windows DISK, usually in C:, and boot SUSE Linux using the Windows boot manager. BUT I don’t think it’s an easy way to do that.
So, does anybody have any better idea to solve this problem? And is there a boot manager software has the power to boot OS and also could give a wizard to install OS? I just know the DELL server has a live CD to do that.
Its usually easier to install Windows then LINUX. The linux boot loader wi\ould automatically add the option for windows. You just have to changet the order if you want that is.
Planning ahead for those who want to move to linux is a good idea
You can, as you suggested, install an entry for booting openSUSE into the windows boot menu, but you would have to operate from the command line, no wizards available for that unfortunately. That’s likely too advanced for you at this stage. Here’s a tutorial for that if you change your mind later on: Boot Multiboot openSUSE Windows (2000, XP, Vista - any mix) with Windows bootloader.
These days, I followed the methods swerdna given and did lots of tests to find out the methods worked fine.
It seems like that GRUB can not boot load the Windows 7, but the Windows 7 can boot load Linux, and that sounds wired. Maybe MS begins to accept the Linux system from the Windows 7 version.
Does anybody do some similar tests with Windows 7?
