Install USB fails on boot spalshscreen

Hi

I can’t find any anser on an existing thread so I there fore make thisone.

I’m styrning to install Tumbleweed on Rog Strix Scar II GL504GM witch secureboot on. It gets to the point were the 3 bars in the splash screen is almoust full (I have allreddy choosen install and saying yes to add key), then it freezes for a few seconds and the capslock flashing red on the reight side then it restarts.

this happends efery time.

Can anyone say how to get a round it without deactivate the secure boot?

and yes I can deactivate it but i figure then will the problem instead be on the installed system when I activate it again. I also have upgraded the UEFI.

You will need to boot with “nomodeset” on the kernel boot line.

Take a look at my blog post: Leap 15.0 — booting the installer

The exact details depend on whether you are using UEFI booting or Legacy BIOS booting. The blog post shows screens for both, and indicates how to enter kernel parameters such as “nomodeset”.

And to further explain: this has to do with your graphic support. The “nomodeset” will give an alternative lower resolution graphics. That should allow you to complete the install. And then you can look into the best setup for Optimus systems, so that you can have better graphics.

Thanks a lott for the fast Reply. It got me to textinstall How come that the install goes automatic to textmode as it did before instead of restarting?

And also why is it taking some diskspace from my second drive by defolult?

Hi thanks for the fast Reply. It now got me to the textmode.

Why is it not going to textmode if it can not lunch the grafical interface by defoult?

Text mode does not use the graphic driver that is why.

You need to get the right driver for your hardware for the GUI stuff to work

Why it does not auto revert is a good question. It may think it has loaded a driver but that driver just does not work for your hardware . The system and the driver thinks it is working but it is not.

Ah thx lot.
