Install suse to 2nd drive

The windows 7 system on sata drive 1, want to install SUSE on sata drive 2. Will the SUSE installer work with drive 2? Give us a choice on startup for drive choice? Partitions and programming suse installer is out of the question. What we need is straight forward instal of SUSe to drive 2, no loss of Windows 7 access or boot up on drive 1. Windows 7 has design software, no mistakes please! I used a older version of SUSE years ago with a drve choice at install with no troubles.

Yes, it’s possible.

Take a look at this blog page:

Scroll down to the “Boot Configuration” section. You will need to follow the same steps to make sure that it boots from your second drive.

This assumes that your BIOS has provisions to allow you to boot from the second drive.

Your alternative option is to install grub2 in the MBR of the first drive. That will change how you boot Windows – you would have to select it from the grub2 menu. But it does not require BIOS support for booting from the second disk.
