i installed suse 11 on a esx vmware server without any problems. the installation is running fine but the creation from a network connection failed! it is a static ip and all entries (i think) correct, ip, subnet, gateway e.g. but i can’t ping any other systems. the firewall is disabeld.
any ideas?
Post the settings from this and a couple other systems on the same machine
(in the same network). The firewall, even if enabled, does not block
these ICMP packets so that’s not it. Chances are good that either ESX has
the NIC disabled or the network settings are wrong.
Good luck.

What is suse 11? Did you mean SLES 11, or openSUSE 11.x… if the
latter (appropriate for this forum group), which one?
I’m typing this from an openSUSE 11.0 running as a guest on
ESX 3.5.
